Having lived experience of a diagnosis of ADHD, Dr Carew has a unique understanding of the impact mental health diagnoses can have on all aspects of an individual’s wellbeing. From the frustrations individuals go through to get a diagnosis, the stigma that can be associated with seeking such help, the difficulties that can occur within relationships, the workplace, education, finances and the feelings of hopelessness that occur as part of this journey.
Dr Carew maintains that the most important parts of a consultation are understanding the patient perspective, keeping them at ease in a non-judgemental and safe environment, and coming to a shared decision on how to progress with treatment.
Dr Carew is a full member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, and is approved under S12 (2) of the Mental Health Act meaning that he has special experience in the treatment and diagnosis of mental disorders.
Dr Carew is a passionate, down to earth specialty doctor with the ability to diagnose a wide range of psychiatric conditions and looks forward to assisting you on your journey.
